CAISLEAN AN OIR (hornpipe)
"Caisleán An Óir" is a traditional hornpipe in D dorian, with two parts of 8 bars. Each parts is repeated twice.
He has been recorded in different keys: A dorian, E dorian, G dorian etc... I did the choice to play it in D dorian, as you can play in different keys using the capo.
We can start with simple chords, using D modal and C.

We can add a bit of diversity by changing the D modal by the D minor.
This also allows us to do a little descent into the mids at the end of the parts: F / E / D with the chords: D minor / A modal / D modal.

To make it sound a little more like a Dorian scale, you can add a modal G just before the C at the beginning.
Then, for a little variety, we can use substitutions with seventh chords.

You can listen to "Caisleán An Óir" on The Mulcahy Family's album "The Reel Note" (2016). On this album they recorded it in F minor, so you can put the capo in the third fret to play it.
