The use of the capo is very frequent in DADGAD. If you know your scale or your D chords well, you will be able to play in all the keys easily by transposing. (see PDF below)

But knowing the fingering of the other scales is also very important, you will be able to build better chords combinations.

​

Which capo to use? Quickdraw (1) or Jim Dunlop flexible (2) are very useful, because they slide easily up and down the fretboard. Clamps capo like Kyser (3) and Jim Dunlop (4) are very good too.
