As you substitute your chords you will hear some bass lines, It will make your guitar play better.
 

For example, when you play D - A - G - A, you can play a DM7 instead of the first A = D - DM7 - G - A using this chords:

If you accentuate your playing on the 5th string, it will creat this bass line: D - C# - B - A.

Another solution, starting on the high of the fretboard and without playing 7th but chords reversal :

A base C#

You can accentuate your playing on the 6th, in the bass, to be more efficient.
